This is the first thing I thought of when I heard of... Sonic Generations. Just because you can put two versions of a character together, doesn't mean you should, oh wait.
I know it's a bit hypocritical coming from a fan of Super Palette-swap Bros. but come on! Old Sonic gets the old gameplay and view, and new Sonic gets his 3D gameplay and view? That really shouldn't be the main selling point.
The original [teaser trailer] felt somehow symbolic to me too. Opening with the monochrome landscape representing the franchise as it is now, drained of life. Then the New Sonic runs in, over the only remaining slither of colour left.
Maybe I'm over-thinking things, I hope so. I really want to like a new Sonic game.
